OH SNAP! RULES

2025 OH SNAP! FISHING GENERAL TOURNAMENT RULES 
 

REGISTRATION​

  • Registration payment must be received in full by 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025 (end of the Captain’s Meeting) in order to be eligible to fish in the tournament.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable. 

  • By submitting a registration form and/or payment, the Captain acknowledges that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by all Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament rules and regulations, and will ensure their crew does the same.

  • The Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament reserves the right to deny participation to any Captain or crew member for violations of tournament rules—current or past.

 

CAPTAIN’S MEETINGS

  • Attendance at the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament Captain’s Meeting is mandatory for each registered boat.

  • The Captain or a member of their crew must be present in order for the boat to be eligible to participate in the tournament — no exceptions.

 

PRIZES

  • All advertised prizes are based on a minimum of 100 paid boat entries.

  • Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament reserves the right to adjust the prize structure if fewer than 100 boats are entered.

  • Prizes are awarded solely based on the official weight of the fish.

  • In the event of a tie, the first fish weighed will be declared the winner.

 

BOATING SAFETY

  • All vessels must comply with all Federal, State, and Local safety laws and regulations appropriate for their class and size.

  • Captains are solely responsible for ensuring their crew follows all applicable fishing regulations and safety requirements, including those set forth by FWC, NOAA, and the U.S. Coast Guard. 

  • The use of marine radios during the tournament must comply with all FCC and USCG communication regulations.

  • Any violation of boating, fishing, or safety regulations by a Captain or crew member may result in disqualification, at the sole discretion of the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament.

  • If you’re departing early, make sure your vessel is equipped with all required safety gear—including a properly registered EPIRB.

 

FISHING

  • Fishing begins at safe light.

  • No passing of any items (fish, bait, gear, etc.) between boats or from land is allowed after the official start of that day’s fishing and before weigh-in. Any violation may result in disqualification for that day.
    Exceptions may be granted in emergency situations at the discretion of Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament officials.

  • All fish must be caught using rod and reel, operated by hand. Electric reels are not permitted unless approved in advance for physically challenged crew members. Please request approval prior to the tournament.

  • Fish eligible for weigh-in must be caught on the same day they are weighed.

  • A photo must be taken at the time of catch, clearly showing both the Red Snapper and your official Oh Snap! Boat Number.

  • Text the photo to 904-535-6971 once you’re back in cellular range.  This step is mandatory and may be used in the event of a dispute.

  • When posting your catch on social media, be sure to tag #OHSNAP2025!

  • The use of drones or any aerial devices during the tournament is strictly prohibited. 

  • Junior Anglers must be 15 years old or younger and registered to compete.

  • A Junior Angler must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times during the tournament.

 

WEIGHING IN FISH​

  • Scales will be open on Friday, July 11th and Saturday, July 12th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

  • No fish may be weighed before 1:00 PM on either day.

  • To be eligible, you must be in line by 5:00 PM on either day—no exceptions.

  • All catches must be weighed at the official weigh-in station located along the boardwalk behind Mavi Waterfront, between Mavi and Windward Marina.

  • Dockmasters will be on hand to assist boats coming in from the inlet and help with docking.

  • Main Tournament: One Red Snapper may be weighed per boat, per day. A larger fish may replace a previously recorded weight.  Note: Fish weighed in the Main Tournament cannot be used for any other division.

  • Lady Angler: One Red Snapper may be weighed per angler, per day. A larger fish may replace a previously recorded weight.   Note: Fish weighed in the Lady Angler division cannot be used for the Main or Junior Angler divisions.  All Ladies must carry their fish to the scales in order for Lady Angler fish to qualify.

  • Junior Angler: One Red Snapper may be weighed per angler, per day. A larger fish may replace a previously recorded weight. Note: Fish weighed in the Junior Angler division cannot be used for the Main or Lady Angler divisions.  All Juniors must carry their fish to the scales in order for Jr. Angler fish to qualify.

  • Fish may be transported to the scales by boat or motor vehicle.

  • Fish must be carried to the scales by a member of the boat’s crew, and the crew must present the Oh Snap! Boat Number provided at the Captain’s Meeting.

  • Baskets will be available to assist with transporting fish.

  • All participants must wear shoes while approaching the scales.

  • Junior Anglers must wear a personal floatation device if exiting a boat.

  • All fish must be of legal size, in fresh, edible condition, and caught on the same day as they are weighed.

  • All fish must comply with state and federal regulations to qualify for prizes.

  • No mutilated fish will be weighed. Mutilation is defined as any damage other than gaff marks. The Weigh Master has final authority on all rulings.

  • After weigh-in, the Red Snapper will be returned to the fisherman.

  • All information printed on the weigh-in slip, including the official weight, is considered final and binding once accepted by the person presenting the fish. 

  • In the event of a tie in weight, the winner will be determined by the earliest check-in day and time.

 

BOUNDARIES

  • Anglers are allowed to fish anywhere within legal federal and state waters along the South Atlantic region., as long as they are following all FWC and NOAA red snapper regulations.

  • There are no physical checkpoints or check-in stations on the water.

  • While boundaries are open, we expect all participants to practice safe boating and remain in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

LADY ANGLER DIVISION 

  • It is the intent of the Tournament to have the Lady Angler fight her fish to the boat. The Lady Angler must be present at weigh in, pre-registered and must use the same boat number as the Captain boat she is fishing from. Lady Anglers’ fish will only count for the Lady Angler Division.

     

  • JR ANGLER DIVISION 

  • It is the intent of the Tournament to have the Jr Angler fight their fish to the boat.  The Jr Angler must be present at weigh in, pre-registered and must use the same boat number as the Captain boat she is fishing from. Jr Anglers’ fish will only count for the Jr Angler Division.
     

PROTEST 

  • Any protest must be submitted to the Weighmaster in writing within one hour after the closing of the weigh-in station on the day the disqualifying event occurs. info@ohsnapfishing.com

  • Only a Tournament registered Captain may file a protest. 

  • A five hundred-dollar ($500) deposit must accompany each protest. 

  • In the event the protest is upheld, the deposit will be refunded. If the protest is not upheld, the deposit will be forfeited. The decisions of the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament are binding regarding any protest.
     

POLYGRAPH

  • All Captains and crew agree to submit to a polygraph at the request of the Tournament. Failure to take, pass and/or submit to the polygraph will result in disqualification of the entire team and forfeit all winnings awarded. Each contestant selected for polygraph must have in their possession a valid picture ID and Florida State fishing license.  
     

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Any matter not specifically covered by these rules may be decided by and at the sole discretion of the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament and decisions of the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament shall be binding. 

  • The Tournament reserves the right to delay, cancel or reschedule the Tournament if the weather conditions are unfavorable or unsafe in the sole judgment of the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament.

  • Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament reserves the right to amend any rule due to safety concerns. 

  • If the Tournament shall be delayed, canceled, or rescheduled due to any cause beyond any control of the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament, no entry fee shall be refunded to the entrants, and entrants shall have no claim against the Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament for return of any portion of the entry fee.

  • By signing the entry form, the captain and crew consent that the Tournament may use without payment or restrictions any photographs in which he or she appears for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to resale, advertising, commercial, or promotional material.

  • The Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament may amend the Tournament Rules at any time prior to the start of fishing.

    *PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: I, INDIVIDUALLY AND AS THE VESSEL’S OWNER OR OPERATOR, MY TEAM, THE BOAT’S CREW AND GUESTS ABOARD AGREE AND UNDERSTAND THAT OH SNAP FISHING TOURNAMENT, ITS PARENT ORGANIZATION/FIRM OR ANY ORGANIZATION/FIRM ASSOCIATED WITH OH SNAP FISHING TOURNAMENT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES FOR ANY INJURIES OR DAMAGES TO PERSON(S), BE THEY PHYSICAL INJURIES OR OTHERWISE. LIKEWISE, INJURIES OR DAMAGES TO PROPERTY, ARISING OUT OF, RESULTING FROM OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED with my/our/my crew’s participation in any tournament whether caused by or contributed to by any negligent act or negligent omission of the OSFT or by any other reason or cause whatsoever. In consideration of the acceptance of me, my team and my crew’s entry and for other good representatives, successors, assigns, the parent organization/firm or any firm/organization that the OSFT is part of or a division of, its/their directors, officers, employees and agents are absolved of and from all claims, suits, obligations, liabilities, losses, damages, costs or expenses which our master, crew, owner(s), operator(s), team or guests aboard or their heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives successors and/or assigns may have against OSFT arising out of, resulting from, or in any way connected with my/our participation in any tournament. We understand that this release includes any claims based upon any negligent act or negligent omissions of the OSFT. To the fullest extent permitted by law, individually and as the vessel’s master (if, indeed, I am the vessel’s master), the boat’s master (if other than the boat’s owner or operator), my team and the vessel’s crew and guests aboard hereby agree to indemnify, to defend with counsel acceptable to the OSFT and to hold the OSFT and its heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, successors, assigns, parent firm/organization or any firm/organization that the OSFT is part of or a division of, its/their directors, officers, employees and agents harmless from and against any and all claims, suits, obligations, liabilities, losses, damages, costs or expenses including but not limited to reasonable attorney fees suffered by the OSFT by any other person or persons whatsoever (including anyone for whose acts the OSFT may be liable), regardless of whether it is caused by or in party with a party, indemnifies and held harmless hereunder, arising out of, resulting from , or in anyway connected with my/our participation in any tournament. All boats, owners, operators, master, crews, guests and anglers will operate their vessels and/or fish at their own discretion and solely at their own risk. Any weather information posted or announced by the OSFT will be for information purposes only. It is agreed that the OSFT will not be liable for such weather information posting or announcements or the omission of such posting or announcements. OH SNAP FISHING TOURNAMENT, its principals, and its affiliates are released from all liability and damages whatsoever which may occur by virtue of competing in said tournament. I further understand that the decision to fish and participate in the tournament is the sole responsibility of the captain/master. In consideration of the tournament accepting this registration, the registrant hereby authorizes the tournament to use the registrant’s name and/or likeness, as well as that of all crew members, free of consideration, for promotion and advertising purposes in any media form and reproduction, including but not limited to, radio, television, newspaper, brochure and video. This agreement shall take effect as an instrument under seal and be binding upon and inure to the benefit of me (individually and as owner of the vessel if indeed I am the owner of the boat), my boat’s owner (if different that the owner or operator of the vessel), my team, the boat’s crew and guests aboard, as well as their heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns of each. PARTICIPANTS IN TOURNAMENTS ARE ADVISED TO BOAT WITH INSURANCE COVERING THEIR PASSENGERS AND THEIR VESSELS.
